Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Allen, TX

Answering Common Dental Queries

Our patients ask us all sorts of questions every day here at Oak Point Dental, so we thought we’d make it easy by providing the answers to some of our most common received questions right here on our website. This page answers many of our frequently asked dental questions in Allen, but of course, we encourage you to call us if you still can’t find the information you’re looking for.

Will I have to get braces to straighten my teeth?

Not at all! These days, adults and teenagers can fix mild to moderate orthodontic problems without the hassle of metal braces. Instead, we offer Invisalign clear aligners, which gradually reposition your teeth using plastic trays that are basically see-through. Thanks to Invisalign, you can smile confidently the entire time your pearly whites are being straightened.

Do you see children?

Yes! We’re happy to see children of all ages at Oak Point Dental. Dr. Ahn and our friendly team members have experience treating smiles before all of their teeth have even emerged! In addition to offering basic children’s dentistry services like checkups and dental sealants, we can also provide custom-fit athletic mouthguards and even silver diamine fluoride for enhanced protection from tooth decay.

How often should I schedule a dental checkup and cleaning?

Most dental professionals, including Dr. Ahn, highly recommend seeing a dentist for a routine checkup twice per year, or once every six months. This is true for patients no matter their age. Even if nothing is currently bothering you about your teeth or gums, many oral health concerns are quite subtle at first. By having Dr. Ahn catch them in the early stages, he can treat them before they become painful (and more expensive to treat) later on.

How can I fix the way my smile looks?

Whether your teeth are stained, chipped, gapped, or otherwise flawed, we offer plenty of ways to bring your dream smile to life. Our cosmetic dentistry services include professional-strength teeth whitening, direct bonding, and veneers. Each of these treatments is fully customized to create gorgeous, natural-looking results that can be trusted to last.

What’s the best way to replace my missing teeth?

For most patients who would like to replace one or more missing teeth, we typically recommend dental implants, as they come the closest to rebuilding the entire structure of your original pearly whites. Dr. Ahn partners with only the best dental implant experts in the Allen area, so you’ll be receiving high-quality treatment at every stage. Of course, not every patient is a good candidate for dental implants. In that case, we can discuss other options, like dental bridges and dentures.

Visiting the dentist’s office makes me nervous. Can you help?

Definitely! Our team prioritizes your comfort at all times, and we understand that some patients have difficulty feeling relaxed while they’re receiving dental care. To help you feel at-ease during your visits, we offer nitrous oxide sedation, also known as “laughing gas,” which makes your anxieties practically melt away.
